Expert News: Spring Cleaning Tips

The flowers are blooming and we are turning our houses upside down, cleaning out every last speck of winter dust.
Here are some of our top tips for preparing your mantel and range hood for spring.

  • When cleaning a range hood, think interior, exterior and filter.
  • Don’t spray degreasers directly onto the range hood’s light bulb or electrical components.
  • Degrease range hood filters, then wash in warm, soapy water. Once they’re starting to look sanitary, run them through the top rack of your dishwasher.
  • Dry filters thoroughly before putting them back in the range hood.
  • If your range hood uses activated charcoal filters, buy a new one and dispose of the old.
  • For vents to the outside, it’s time to check for grease buildup. You can call in professionals to handle this if you need help.
  • Check out the motor on your vent hood. If the blower wheel gets too greasy, it will slow down the fan. Occasionally fan motors need to be replaced.
