Decorate Your Home for Autumn

As September progresses, we feel that bite in the air and know that it’s almost fireplace season. Or, if you live in Texas like us, you revel in every temperature drop and start to dream of lighting the season’s first fire.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to bring the harvest season spirit into our home.

Seasonal vegetables

In fall, vegetables aren’t just for eating. Gourds, pumpkin and Indian corn are the easiest and most cost-efficient way to bring fall color into your home. A few pumpkins on your porch or a basket of Indian corn on your mantel may even awaken nostalgic memories with this time-honored decor.

Fall flowers

Summer is the time for glorious, fresh blooms. But fall is the time to add bouquets of dahlias and sunflowers to your tablescape and mantel.

Quick splash of color

Add autumnal golds, reds and rust with textiles. Table cloths, rugs slip covers and throw pillows equal instant fall decor.

Add a holiday smell

A super easy way to get in the autumn mood is to add a pumpkin pie smell to your house. Scented candles are good. Or simmer cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon in a pot of water on your stove. Keep the heat low and remember to turn your stove off before you go to bed.

Dress up your dog

Just as you might wear holiday jewelry, Fido deserves a fall-toned bandana or collar. A burnt orange kerchief adds holiday flair to your home as Fido curls up in front of your fireplace.

Upgrade your fireplace mantel
