Cambridge Fireplace Mantel

Before and After: Cambridge Fireplace Mantel

A local homeowner graciously allowed us to document the installation of their Cambridge fireplace mantel which you can see the before and after results below.

The home had an existing wood mantel and stone veneer that had to be removed by the installer prior to the installation of our fireplace mantel.  Once the demo work was complete, our Cambridge fireplace mantel was then installed stone-by-stone.  All of our mantels are made up of multiple stones to make the transportation and installation as easy as possible.

At the request of the homeowner a larger upper filler stone was used above the opening so that the Cambridge fireplace mantel still had the grand presence and height that was initially intended.  Using a filler stone is quite common when working with a shorter opening than our mantels were designed for or for when a firebox opening is not flush with the floor in order to maintain proportions.
