Everybody wants a clean kitchen, but few people feel like they have enough time to make their homes as pristine as they’d like. These five clever tips will help you reach that clean kitchen goal a little faster.
Use coconut oil to shine wood
Natural, nontoxic, and inexpensive; rubbing a little coconut oil on wooden surfaces removes dust and impurities. The lauric acid in coconut oil helps kill microbes. This tip works for wooden cabinets and tables.
Baking soda eliminates coffee stains
Those cute coffee mugs aren’t so cute when filled with stubborn brown stains. Instead of fruitlessly scrubbing, just dampen the inside of the mug, sprinkle in some baking soda and let it sit for ten minutes. Then use a damp cloth to gently scrub away the stains. Baking soda is an excellent natural abrasive.
Clean your granite beautifully
Lots of natural cleaning books advise using vinegar. This is good advice for many surfaces. However, vinegar can dull a granite finish. Instead, mix one-quarter cup of rubbing alcohol, 3 drops of dish soap, 5 to 10 drops of tea tree essential oil, and a cup of water. Once mixed, pour it into a spray bottle and shine up that granite.
Install a range hood
Our Rothchild cast stone range hood, available in white, cream, or buff, would make a statement in your kitchen.
Installing a range hood makes the air in your kitchen much cleaner. A range hood removes gases and pollutants from your home and sucks smoke, grease, and steam out of the air you and your family breathe. Installing a range hood is one of the best ways to decrease mold, germs, and bacteria in your kitchen. It also cools the kitchen down and adds extra lighting.
Use cups and liners to keep cupboard shelves clean
Some containers seem to leave rings on the cupboard shelves no matter how carefully you clean the sides before putting them away. Depending on the size of the container in question, place coffee can lids, cupcake liners, or plastic cups underneath your oil, molasses, honey bear and other repeat offenders.
