Project of the Month: Whitmoore Mantel – Dunning Project

Nothing makes us happier than seeing the transformations that take place in our customers’ homes when they install one of our beautiful cast stone fireplace mantels. So this week, we’ll look at the before, during and after as one family installs our Whitmoore mantel.

The Dunning family of Dothan, Alabama decided it was time for a change. This old fireplace was chic in its day, but that day had passed. Here’s what they started with:

They had to tear it down to the bricks that lay beneath.

The dismantling continued, until they were able to fit the old fireplace with the new Whitmoore mantel surround. As part of the makeover, they used custom-sized stones from Old World Stoneworks. They also added custom built-in shelving on both sides of the fireplace to hold photographs and other family treasures.

And now for the big reveal! We think the Whitmoore looks fabulous in the Dunning household. We love the built-ins and the cool neutral colors. We know the Dunnings will enjoy many evenings entertaining, talking and reading with their children around their newly upgraded fireplace.
