COMPANY NEWS: Still seeking before and after photos

Have you installed one of our mantels or range hoods in your home? Or are you about to embark on an installation adventure? From time to time, we like to reissue our invitation to guest star on our blog. We’d love to feature your renovation project in 2017. The year has gotten off to a quick start – it’s hard to believe we’re at the end of February already – but there are still ten months to go. That means lots of chances to share your happy hearth story with the OWS community.

This Old House: The Fireplace Episode

Okay, that’s not the official name of our favorite episode of season 37 of This Old House. But it will always be The Fireplace Episode to us. After months of watching our favorite PBS show, we finally had the gratifying moment of watching our Amhurst mantel surround being installed in the Arlington Arts and Crafts house.

Here’s what host Kevin O’Connor said when he first laid eyes on the Amhurst: “What is this beauty right here?” Yep, that beauty is one of our babies. Here are a few pictures of the installation. If you missed the episode, you can watch it here.

Here’s what they started with – an old, outdated brick fireplace.

By the end of the episode, Kevin and Mark had hefted the Amhurst into place. Blue painters tape still festooned the mantel as Kevin eyed it approvingly. “I’ll tell you what, that looks awesome already, Mark, and it’s only going to look better when it’s all cleaned up.”

We admit we’ve watched this episode of This Old House more than once. Okay, quite a few times. But we are so proud of our partnership with this much-beloved, award-winning show. We love the work they do inspiring ordinary people to take pride in their houses. If you’re feeling inspired, too, give us a call. We’d be honored to help you pick out the beautiful new mantel surround that will make you appreciate your house just a little bit more.
