Best Home Improvement Expos to Visit in 2017

Are you in a home design rut? Attending a home and garden show is one of the fastest ways to get new motivation and inspiration for your home design plans and projects. No matter where you live, there’s probably one near you. Here are a few of the especially notable home and garden shows around the US:

American Consumer Shows

ACS is a big operation that puts on shows in many states, including California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina and New York. These shows are especially helpful if you’re about to undertake a big remodeling or landscaping project. Expect hundreds of demonstrations and sample vignettes of both interior and exterior ideas.

Greenbuild

Greenbuild bills itself as “the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building.” So if your heart beats green, this is the place to learn about cutting edge eco building techniques. This year, Greenbuild will be in Boston from November 8 through 10. In addition to on-site demos and seminars, participants can tour Boston’s greenest buildings. Greenbuild will be in Chicago in 2018 and Atlanta in 2019.

Spring Home and Garden Show

Coming up in June, the Spring Home and Garden Show in Woodlands, Texas, promises to inspire home owners in projects large and small. It will be held at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. This is your chance to get your antiques appraised by Dr. Lori, of Dr. Lori’s Antiques Appraisal Comedy Show. Or meet Houston-born and bred Chef Conor Moran, a renowned barbecue expert with his own line of outdoor grills and accessories.

Southern Arizona Home Builders Association

If you’re in the Southwest, don’t miss Tucson’s biggest home and garden show, which emphasizes patios and outdoor living. It opens April 7 this year at the Tucson Convention Center. Some of Tucson’s best food trucks will provide sustenance to show-goers, and there will be face painting for the kids.

Philadelphia Flower Show

Since 1829, the Philadelphia Horticulture Society has put on one of our country’s leading garden shows, with more than a quarter million visitors annually. If you have a green thumb, you’ll want to make the trip to this show at least once in your life. This year’s show, opening March 10, celebrates the plants and horticulturists of Holland. Expect massive amounts of tulips, cheese, wooden shoes and a windmill or two. Experts will lead seminars on beekeeping, wastewater management, adding Japanese touches to the garden and many other topics of interest to gardeners.
